Musical STYLings

Hey y’all! I’m Roxy from My Cup of Te, and as you can see from the picture below, I love to dance so this interview was quite a natural for me! Thanks so much for fabulous Kalyn for having me over today for such a fun series. I hope I don’t give you whiplash as my faves are literally all over the place. Can’t wait to see the others’ picks! Enjoy!!

I’m a child of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, the millenium ….

80′s baby! Proud to call my decade the home of the awesome soundtracks of Dirty Dancing, Ferris Beuller, Sixteen Candles, and John Cusack in Say Anything. Remember when he holds the boom box over his head blasting “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel? Legendary.

Your all time favorite song? This is hard because I love so much, but I think Regina Spektor’s “Fidelity” is incredibly beautiful. She sings, plays the piano, and there are violins and cellos! You must see for yourself!!!

Your all time favorite artist? I totally dig Regina Spektor. She’s beyond original and charmingly quirky! For Christmas I received Live from London and the DVD from my mom and dad- love, love, love!

What does your taste in music say about your personal style? It says that I’m all over the place depending on my mood!! Some days I want to chill out with Lykke Li and of course there are those nights I’d like to “Drop It Like It’s Hot” with Snoop! ha!

Favorite Pandora station? Regina Spektor, for sure.

Who do you listen to to unwind? I love to put Pandora on the Miles Davis station and pour a huge glass of red. Have you been to a jazz club? One of my faves is in the West Village in NYC called Smalls! Must go!

Who’s on your inner playlist? Inner? I’m not sure what that means?? But I do have a ton of playlists that I love to scroll through, each one special in it’s own way! It’s cool to go way back because many of the songs bring me back to that certain time in my life.

What song do you hear in your head when you know you’re looking good? Hahah this cracks me up! Not sure if I have one of those, but lately my girls and I can’t get enough of Ke$ha’s (note dollar sign) “We R Who We R.” You know, “Tonight we’re going har-har-h-h-h hard. Just like the world is our-our-ah-ah-ah ours!  We’re tearing it apar-par-par-pa-pa-pa part!”

My girls and I really like to paint the town :)

Who was your biggest influence in terms of your musical taste? I don’t get too serious, if I hear a song I like, I’ll add it to my playlist!

You have a chance to win American Idol, what song do you sing? This is so random, but I would totally bust out “Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster.” I know every word. Let’s just say it’s a product of fun times in college!

Thanks for sharing your inner playlist with us Roxy!
